Those twelve or so of you that follow this blog will have noticed I fell off the horse recently. When that happens, there’s just one thing to do. Get back on. I have come into some free time and decided to use the opportunity to start a new workout challenge, which I will be updating you all on regularly. I already started on July 5th. The plan is to workout with a game every day for 30 days.
I will also be completely upending my diet. I narrowed down what I can eat to about ten things. I’m cutting out alcohol and everything with added sugar. For the next thirty days, I’m limiting myself to fresh fruits and vegetables, chicken breasts, nuts, rice and things like that. I will try to include everything I ate in the post. I should note, I’m not really trying to lose weight, at least not a lot of it. I weighed in on the morning of the fifth at 191.1 pounds, which for a guy that’s six feet tall is not too bad. I would not want to get below my fighting weight of 175 (Light Heavyweight). This exercise is more about replacing flub with muscle. If I come out weighing the same or even slightly more, I’ll still consider it a win if I’m stronger and more lean.
I’m also going to use the opportunity to give some tips on the game I happen to play that day and observations about diet and exercise in general. These will be games I have played before, and I know are good for working out (expect a lot of boxing). So, if you are interested in working out with games, it might be a good way to learn a little more about that and what the options are.
One of the main reasons I’m posting this is to embarrass myself into sticking with it. At the end of the 30 days, I’ll post a before and after photo of my hairy, shirtless thirty-seven year old body (gross), so that you can see the actual results. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this, and I’m pretty excited. Thanks for your support.
